Privacy Policy

Mooirivier Makelaars (Mooirivier Brokers), an authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP 14865), is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what information we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

1. Who we are

Mooirivier Makelaars is the responsible party for the personal information collected through this website.

Office: 9 Walter Sisulu, Potchefstroom, North West Province, 2531
Phone: 087 170 0974
Email: potchbem1@mooirivier.com

2. What we collect

When you request a quote or contact us through this site, we collect:

• Your full name, email address, and phone number
• Your insurance history — whether you've been continuously insured for the last three years, and details of any claims in that period
• Any other information you choose to include in a message to us

We do not knowingly collect special personal information (such as health, biometric, or religious data) through this website. If a claims history you share happens to reveal special personal information, we treat it with the same care and only use it to prepare your quote.

3. Why we process it

We use your information to:

• Prepare and provide an insurance quote tailored to you
• Contact you about your quote request or enquiry
• Place and administer cover with an insurer, where you go ahead
• Meet our record-keeping obligations as a licensed FSP under FAIS and POPIA

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your separate consent.

4. How we collect it

Information is collected directly from you when you submit the “Request a quote” form on this website. Submitting the form sends your details to our office by email via our transactional email provider, Resend.

5. Who we share it with

We share your information only where necessary to do the above:

• Resend (resend.com) — delivers the quote request email from this website to our office. Resend processes the message in transit but does not use it for its own purposes.
• Insurers and underwriters — if you proceed with a quote, we share the relevant details with the insurer or underwriter placing your cover, as needed to arrange and administer that cover.

We do not share your information with any other third party without your consent, unless required by law.

Cross-border processing

Some service providers we use (such as Resend) may process data on servers located outside South Africa.

6. How long we keep it

We keep quote requests and related correspondence for as long as needed to provide the service you requested, and thereafter for the period required by our record-keeping obligations as an authorised FSP.

7. How we protect it

We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to keep your information secure and to prevent unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure, as required by section 19 of POPIA. This website is served over HTTPS, and our quote form is rate-limited and validated to reduce abuse.

8. Cookies and third-party content

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. The Contact page embeds a Google Maps view of our office location; loading that map may allow Google to process standard technical information (such as your IP address) under Google's own privacy policy.

9. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, and access it
• Ask us to correct or update information that is inaccurate or outdated
• Ask us to delete information we no longer have a lawful reason to keep
• Object to our processing of your information on reasonable grounds
• Withdraw any consent you've given, at any time

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in section 1. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

10. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. You may also lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator:

Email: complaints.IR@justice.gov.za
Website: inforegulator.org.za

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always published on this page.
